"Victoria’s excellent education, stunning natural beauty, and abundant career opportunities make it an ideal place for personal and professional growth"
In Victoria, Sarah has been able to realise the full potential of her career. Sarah’s career journey began with pharmacy studies in Yangon, Myanmar. Although she enjoyed her studies and started her career as a pharmacist, her primary interest was research. To pursue this ambition, she decided to advance her education with a master’s degree in pharmaceutical science at Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
While in Thailand, she took up a position with the Thai subsidiary of DentaLife Australia. When DentaLife later offered her the chance to relocate to Victoria, on a temporary visa to lead their Melbourne research and development team, Sarah saw it as the perfect growth and lifestyle opportunity.
Sarah and her husband moved to Melbourne in January 2020 while she was pregnant with her first child. As they settled into their new home, she discovered many reasons to appreciate Melbourne . She enjoyed the city’s “calming vibe” and its connection to nature within the city, and across Victoria, finding joy in slowing down and embracing outdoor activities like hiking.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sarah led her team at DentaLife to develop disinfectant products for the Australian dental industry and medical markets. The team worked to create new locally produced hygiene and disinfecting solutions to minimise the spread of COVID-19 in medical environments and ensure a steady supply of these critical products to meet demand, especially when global supply chains faced disruptions.
Sarah enjoys Melbourne’s tranquillity and green spaces, which she finds a refreshing contrast to her experience growing up in a busy city. Although she misses her family in Myanmar, Sarah has formed a supportive community in Victoria. She looks forward to future opportunities in Victoria for her career and her young children's education, stating, "Victoria’s excellent education, stunning natural beauty, and abundant career opportunities make it an ideal place for personal and professional growth."
In 2022, Sarah applied for the Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) through the Victorian skilled visa nomination program and was granted the visa later that year. Sarah describes the visa nomination process that brought her to Victoria as “fair and simple." She encourages others interested in opportunities and new experiences to consider making the move.
