Victoria offers a diverse mix of education providers, with 10 universities, 12 government training institutions (TAFEs), more than 250 private education providers and eight offshore campuses and centres.

The Victorian Government has made significant investment to make Victoria the Education State, improving outcomes for every student, in every classroom, in every school, and for all communities.

Melbourne continues to be ranked as Australia's best student city, and the third best in the world, receiving a perfect score for student mix which looks at features such as a city's student population, levels of social inclusion, and tolerance.

Victoria's ten universities are amongst the best in the world, with cutting-edge facilities, internationally-recognised academic staff, access to world-leading research infrastructure and outstanding graduate outcomes.

Our university campuses are located in Melbourne, as well as in regional Victoria, with great options for all disciplines.  

Victorian universities offer education training and research solutions to governments, industry partners and students across the world.

More than half of Victoria’s  universities’ are ranked in Australia’s top 20. Two of Victoria’s universities rank in the world's top 100 and one in the world's top 40.

Vocational education and training

Delivering hands-on skills for specific industries, our vocational education and training (VET) sector also provides pathways to higher education. We’re known for providing flexible and tailored programs that respond to the needs of industry. Graduates from government and private registered training organisations (RTOs) are highly employable by government and industry, in Australia and overseas.
