"Melbourne is a diverse city with great education for our children."
JQ Wellbeing’s mission is to partner with global brands to manufacture high-quality Australian health products for Asia.
The health industry has always been a passion for Yongzhong and Yuhua. Yongzhong previously taught sports science as a university professor in China and Yuhua worked in diet supplement sales. In 2001, the couple started JQ Wellbeing in Shanghai after recognising the growing demand for health products across China.
In 2018, Yongzhong and Yuhua moved with their children to Melbourne to establish their new company headquarters in Australia. “Melbourne is home to many of our leading suppliers of milk products, DHA powder and mint oil that are important components in our health food products.”
JQ Wellbeing’s new headquarters in Carrum Downs operates in tandem with the Shanghai facility to distribute health products with Australian ingredients to China. The state-of-the-art facility can produce 10,000 bottles of their unique formulas in a single day. Nearly 20 different health products are made by their regionally based team that includes five full-time workers and several casual staff.
In addition to exporting health goods to China, JQ Wellbeing provides product testing and development to meet Australia’s high food standards. Yongzhong and Yuhua see research and development as integral to their company’s work in Australia.
The creators behind JQ Wellbeing are taking advantage of all the opportunities available to them in Melbourne including a recent appearance at the Fine Food Australia Exhibition, support from the Relationship Management team at the Skilled and Business Migration Program, Invest Victoria, and a collaboration with Monash Food Innovation.
“The experts at Monash Food Innovation will be helping us improve the sustainability of our product packaging and create labels that continue to meet regulatory standards”.
JQ Wellbeing is continuing to develop their Carrum Downs facility. They aim to expand their international export markets to Southeast Asia and the Middle East in the near future.
“Melbourne is a diverse city with great education for our children. We had visited Melbourne in the past and thought it would be the best place for our family and to develop our business.”
Yongzhong and Yuhua were nominated for a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) followed by a (Permanent) visa (subclass 888) Innovation stream. Find out more about business and investor visas.
