Education in Victoria

You will require a visa to enter Australia if you are not an Australian citizen. All Australian visas are issued by the Department of Home Affairs.

Melbourne welcomes Significant Investors

Victoria is the first preference for Australia’s growing community of business migrants.

The Significant Investor visa (subclass 188) is a provisional visa for individuals investing A$5 million into complying investments over four years and can provide a pathway to permanent residency.

The Victorian Government offers Significant Investors visa nomination with the highest level of investment flexibility. Visa nomination applications receive priority processing. Most applicants will receive an outcome within one week from the time their complete visa nomination application is lodged.

Melbourne welcomes business migrants

The Victorian Government has a long history of welcoming business migrants who are looking to build new and successful businesses or engage in investment activity in one of the strongest economies in the developed world. Most Australian business visas require a State or Territory government to sponsor the applicant before they can lodge a visa application with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

The Victorian Government offers sponsorship for the following business visas:

Provisional visa options

Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188)

  • Significant Investor stream: must invest at least AUD5 million into complying investments and maintain business and investment activity in Australia.
  • Business Innovation stream: for people with business skills who want to establish, develop and manage a new or existing business in Australia.
  • Investor stream: must make a designated investment of at least AUD1.5 million in an Australian State or Territory government and maintain business and investment activity in Australia.

Investor Retirement visa (subclass 405)

Permanent visa options

Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 888)
Must meet the requirements for any of the subclass 188 streams.

Business Talent visa (subclass 132)

  • Significant Business History stream: For high-calibre business owners who want to do business in Australia.
  • Venture Capital Entrepreneur stream: Must have venture capital funding from a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL).

State/Territory Sponsored Business Owner visa (subclass 892)
Must own a new or existing Australian business.

State/Territory Sponsored Investor visa (subclass 893)
Must have held a designated investment in Australia for four years.
